After reaching the F1 Esports Series finals last year in Abu Dhabi, Sonuc - along with older brother Salih - will be looking for the top spots in 2018 after both were picked in the Pro Draft by the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Esports Team.
For me it was not destiny to make it to where I am now, I thought for a long time I would become a go kart mechanic, or a job like this. Not an F1 driver.
Q: What type of driving style do you think you have?
A: Aggressive but precise
Q: What is your favourite wheel that you've driven with?
A: Fanatec
Q: How did you find the level of the competition in the F1 Esports Series 2018 Online Qualifiers?
A: It wasn’t too easy and it wasn’t too hard. For me it wasn’t really that much challenging
Q: What does your average sim racing day look like?
A: Practice sessions online or Time Trial finding the right setup for the race
Q: Which driving conditions do you prefer, wet or dry?
A: Wet
Q: Who is your toughest online opponent?
A: Salih and Allert
Q: Who do you think (bar yourself) will be the top challenger for the title win, in 2018?
A: Joni Tormala, Salih, Allert.. there’s loads of people that could. It’s too competitive
Q: If you think there is something/anything that will give you an advantage over your competitors, what is it and how will you use it?
A: Hehe I’m not gonna give my secrets away
Q: If you had one favourite moment from the Silverstone trip, what was it?
A: Watching Alonso overtake right in front of me at Stowe
Q: What was your most memorable F1 race and why?
A: 2011 Silverstone, Alonso won that race when me and my dad were there supporting him
Q: Did you feel the pressure, sat there in the Pro Draft?
A: Yes, being the last pick didn’t help my nerves at all
Q: Outside of racing, who is your hero/inspirational character?
A: My amazing dad. He has been along side me and my brothers after our mother left us, if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be in this situation right now
