McLaren Shadow confirm F1 Esports Series line-up
August 9, 2018
McLaren Shadow are the latest team to confirm their driver line-up for the 2018 F1 Esports Pro Series Championship. Three drivers have been chosen to represent the team in its debut season, with Team Redline working closely to support McLaren Shadow as they compete for the 2018 F1 Esports Pro Series Championship alongside eight other official F1 teams.
Bono Huis and Enzo Bonito will join Olli Pahkala, who was selected by McLaren at the inaugural F1 Esports Pro Draft in July. The three drivers will now start training ahead of the three championship races in the autumn.
Bono Huis has a wealth of sim-racing experience, having started at the age of ten. The 24-year-old Dutchman is a five-time Formula Sim Racing champion and was the winner of the 2017 Visa Vegas eRace in Las Vegas, USA.
Enzo Bonito has also won numerous Esports titles, including the Porsche e Carrera Cup, and he also starred at the 2018 Race of Champions in Riyadh earlier this year. The 23-year-old hails from Reggio Emilia in Italy, a region with a rich motorsport tradition.
At 28, Olli Pahkala is the oldest of the trio. The Finn performed solidly across three Driver Assessment days at Silverstone ahead of British Grand Prix weekend in July, with McLaren Shadow impressed enough to select him with the eighth overall pick at the Pro Draft.
