Star-Studded Line-Up Revealed for Next Virtual Grand Prix

April 30, 2020

Two races, two wins. Charles Leclerc is in fine form in the Virtual Grand Prix Series. Can he make it a hat-trick? This weekend, he will aim to do just this, with the fourth Virtual Grand Prix.

The Ferrari star will be lining up on the F1 2019 game’s computer-generated grid again this Sunday for the next race, held on the beautifully rendered Interlagos Circuit after a fan vote to decide the venue, since the Dutch Grand Prix’s venue, Circuit Zandvoort, is not yet part of the Formula 1 game.

The 22-year-old Monégasque will be up against some stiff opposition, not just in terms of his F1 rivals Antonio Giovinazzi, Alex Albon, George Russell and Nicholas Latifi, but also stars from other sports, including AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli and England cricketers Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes.

2003 World Rally Champion Petter Solberg makes his debut for Renault. More acclimated to sliding a rally car, the Swede will be partnered by Formula 2 star Christian Lundgaard. There’s plenty more talent from the Road To F1 too, with Formula 3’s David Schumacher and Enzo Fittipaldi on the roster. Enzo’s older brother Pietro will once again race for Haas, alongside fellow test and reserve driver, and F2 racer, Louis Deletraz.

STREAM TIME

The drivers will join the race remotely, with a host broadcast live from the Gfinity Esports Arena from 1700 UTC (1800 BST) on Sunday May 3.

The broadcast goes live on the official Formula 1 YouTube, Twitch and Facebook channels, as well as F1.com. It is expected to run for 1 hour 30 minutes, with a short qualifying session followed by a 28-lap race.

The F1 Esports Pro Exhibition Race will once again precede the race, with the stars of the Pro Series fighting it out.
