Lando Norris to Feature in Twitch Rivals Minecraft Event
February 26, 2021
You’ve seen Lando Norris racing hard on track. He’s battled champions, stood on the podium, and brought his trademark champagne trick to the F1 paddock! But now he faces a very different task…
On Wednesday March 3, Twitch Rivals will run an invitational event housed within the blocky world of Minecraft, and Lando Norris will be the star. Four teams of four will compete in a variety of minigames, with proceeds going to charity based on finishing positions.
All Fun and Games
The four teams of four will participate in three different Minecraft minigames to score points: Boat Racing, The Walls, and Bow Bash. Each minigame will play out three times, with the top two teams progressing to a final explosive Final round of TNT Dash.
Boat Racing will see the teams compete on a closed circuit ice track, watching out for the perilous ice blocks and hoping not to sink their boat. The Walls separates the teams with four huge walls, before they must attempt to destroy one another’s ‘core’ using TNT. Bow Bash is a test of balance, timing and precision, where the teams must fire arrows at one another from aerial platforms, in a last-team-standing battle of nerve. And finally, TNT Dash will see players from the top two teams spawn into a world full of disintegrating floors, where a deadly void below seeks to knock players out of the game. This best-of-five competition will determine the winning team!
There are plenty of faces familiar to the world of F1 and Esports already getting involved, with more to be announced in due course. Red Bull Racing reserve driver Alex Albon will be taking part, as well as Road to F1 star Max Fewtrell.
Familiar motorsport content creators Steve “SuperGT” Alvarez Brown and Aarava “The AaravaTV” Amin are on deck too, as well as FIFA creator Niran “FNG” Yesufu, and streamers DrLupo and xChocoBars. Plenty more are set to be announced in the coming days, so keep eyes peeled for announcements on Twitch’s social accounts!
Mind-craft
A charity prize pot of $25K is up for grabs, with each team earning more cash for good causes based on how well they fare in the competitions.
The teams will be supporting one charity each, with Norris’ team partnering with Mind, the mental health charity his McLaren team has been allied with since the start of the 2020 F1 Season. The charities of the other three teams are yet to be determined, but will be going to good causes around the world.
Norris and former team mate Carlos Sainz sported stunning replica helmets back at the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix, based on designs they had made earlier in the year at Silverstone, all for the benefit of Mind.

The event will take place from 6PM GMT on Wednesday March 3 on the Twitch Rivals, and will run until around 10PM. Set your reminders, and
