F1 Esports bronze medallist Lucas Blakeley joins McLaren Shadow for the 2022 F1 Esports Series Pro Championship, completing a formidable line-up alongside Bari Boroumand, and series newcomer Wilson Hughes.
Blakeley enjoyed a breakout season in 2021, which saw him claim two wins including a thrilling season opener in Bahrain. He went on to score a total of six podiums, amassing 162 points, and third in the championship.
Bardia ‘Bari’ Boroumand stays on with the Papaya outfit for a second season, having showcased incredible speed for them in 2021. He notched three pole positions and a brace of podiums, and although he was unable to take the top step, it is clear that the Iranian driver has searing pace to unleash once more.
Both drivers will be kept on their toes by debutant Wilson Huhges, who impressed at this year’s Pro Exhibition held at Silverstone Circuit. At just 17, Hughes is one of the youngest drivers in the series, and forms a dynamic Scottish duo, flying the Saltire alongside team mate Blakeley.
McLaren had a fine season in 2021, but didn’t quite creep into the top half of the table, finishing sixth in the team standings, such was the level of competition. With proven race-winners, polesitters and new blood in the ranks, it could be a a year that sees McLaren right at the sharp end of the action.
Tune in to see how they fare when racing gets under way on September 14!
