Spanish Rain is no problem for Doherty

May 22, 2018

James Doherty (veiocelimitless) dominated the Xbox Barcelona Qualifying Race with huge winning margin of over 10 seconds on Monday night around a sodden Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Doherty faced some early pressure from Bono Huis in the first few corners but soon exerted his control on the race with Huis comfortably finishing on the second step of the podium.

The battle for third was more intense. Kimmy Larson (Drawmaster99) managed to overtake Chris Holstein (Ycoms) on the first lap, a place he held until the flag despite unrelenting pressure from Holstein, especially during the last two laps.

Doherty, Huis and Larson have now secured a place in the Pro Draft where the real world F1 teams will select the drivers who will represent them later in the year.

Further down the field the heavy rain was causing drama with several instances of contact happening in the early stages of the race. All in all a very entertaining race around a wet Barcelona track.

Tonight the focus switches to the PC qualifiers who will do battle in another 17 lap race around the Catalunya track. You can tune in tonight from 8pm (BST) here.

Qualification 4, around Monaco, will be your final chance to reach the Pro Draft. The event goes live in F1 2017 on Friday so make sure that you are registered.
