Wijers reigns in Spain

May 24, 2018

Last night’s PS4 Qualification Final brought a thrilling week of racing around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to a close and saw three more drivers booked their places in the F1 Esports Series Pro Draft.

Floris Wijers (floriswijers14) led the race from pole position in commanding fashion to take the flag after 17 laps.

Vitsaniemi Jani (Aressi91) made the most of his race strategy to claim the second spot on podium. Having decided to pit on lap 6 he then made the most of clear air so that when the front two of Wijers and Gianfranco Giglioli (ITA-VEN-97) both stopped at the end of lap 8, he was able to split them and take second place. Giglioli wrapped up third and also qualifies for the Pro Draft.

Arguably the driver of the day was JIM-NardyXTeam who, having started down in ninth place, carved his way through the field to finish in fourth spot and only a second off the podium.

With Qualification Event 3 now coming to a close there is only one more chance for you to earn a place in the F1 Esports Series Pro Draft when Qualification Event 4 goes live on Friday at 12pm (BST). Make sure you are registered here and go to the in-game event in F1 2017.
